About Glissando Cakes
Hello, my name is Hilary Blaney and I'm pleased to tell you more about our business.
Glissando Cakes came about following a successful bake sale for Comic Relief in 2013, when a total of 350 pounds was raised by selling cakes, biscuits and coconut ice, all of which I made in my kitchen at home. I enjoyed baking for Comic Relief and this inspired me to set up my own business, which is proving to be very popular and successful
I have always enjoyed baking for family and friends, both for special occasions and treats, but never really had the time to go further. Having retired from a career in nursing I have turned this hobby into a small business and enjoy making cakes for many more people.I am currently updating my skills using royal icing, and sugar paste for decorating cakes, undertaking classes at the Pennington School of Cake Artistry in Bournemouth. This truly is a centre of excellence and I find it most enjoyable.I cetainly recommend the school to anyone interested in cake decorating, and we have fun whilst we learn! You can see some of the results of my work on our gallery pages, but do visit Dawn Pennington's website for information about courses- www.cakeschool.co.uk.
Our aim is to produce a variety of cakes, from the popular cup cake to the kind of cakes mum used to bake. Glissando has responded to public demand for both 'gluten-free' and 'sugar-free' products and aims to expand this range as recipes prove successful.
We care about the cakes we make and the people we make them for, and offer a first class, reliable service.
